20th Annual
Cancer Progress

The Premier Cancer Conference
for Healthcare Executives

March 10-11, 2009
The Westin New York Times Square

This hallmark annual conference for pharmaceutical and biotechnology executives features cutting-edge presentations and candid panel discussions on concepts and developments which are critical to cancer drug development and commercialization. At our 20th annual conference on March 10-11, 2009, our stellar faculty of presenters and panelists provided a mother-lode of information and insights. Attendees received a conference handbook and web-access to slides, plus the annually-updated report Oncology Drugs in the Pipeline. The conference offered many opportunities for high-level networking during continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, luncheons and a gala cocktail reception. Participants were also invited to attend the optional 4th annual Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Prize Award Dinner sponsored by the National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR). This prize is awarded each year by the NFCR to a basic science researcher who has made an extraordinary contribution to cancer research. The 2009 recipient was Ronald A. DePinho, MD of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Among this year's conference discussion topics were:

  • Emerging cancer targets, combination therapies, translational research, autophagy and metabolism, drug resistance, biomarkers, rational design and much more – provocative panels will examine new agents and avenues which are reshaping treatment strategies.
  • The current 95% attrition rate for cancer drugs is unacceptable. What can be done to mitigate the risk of future drug failures?
  • Payers are demanding more evidence to support coverage and payment decisions, what are the global healthcare outcomes and health technology assessments that need to be incorporated into clinical programs in order to get drugs reimbursed? A panel of noted decision-makers will assess the landscape and offer innovative solutions.
  • In an economy that is forcing downsizing and reduction of operating expenses, what new paradigms are changing the business models in oncology?

Mark your calendar for March 16-17, 2010 and plan to join us in New York for strategic discussions, lively audience interactions and an unsurpassed learning experience at our 21st annual Cancer Progress conference.
